Taiya Renewable Energy (TAIYA) announced that the EIA ad hoc committee of Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) approved its 440 MW
Huan Yang project off the coast of Changhua County, Taiwan. The project is now eligible to participate tender of Phase-3 Zonal Development of Wind Power.

The wind farm covers an area of approximately 53km2, in water depth between 15m and 45m. The site is about 8km from the shore and has steered clear of all ESAs (Environmentally Sensitive Areas). The wind farm is projected to generate as much as 1.6 billion kWh/year, which is equivalent to a year’s consumption of 460,000 households.

According to TAIYA, in addition to this project, the company is also planning other projects, “Huan-Ya Wind Farm” offshore from Miaoli County and “Huan Peng Wind Farm” offshore from Penghu, further making contribution to Taiwan’s promotion of sustainable energy development.

“Huan-Ya” covers approximately 78km2; with a water depth between 60m and 80m and the site is about 28km from the shore. The offshore wind farm is projected to generate approximately 3.7 billion kWh/year.

Huan-Peng consists of three offshore wind farms, which are projected to generate from 2.8 billion kWh/year to 4.4 billion kWh/year.
