Terna issues tender for Tyrrhenian Link

Terna has issued a tender for the preliminary survey and environmental characterization of the Tyrrhenian Link.

The €19.775 million tender has been divided into two lots. Lot 1 includes work between Sicily and Campania and is valued at €10.074 million, whereas Lot 2 comes to €9.7 miliion, incorporating work between Sardinia and Sicily. The tender deadline is 3 September 2020.

Under its new 2020 development plan, Terna aims to invest €14 billion for the development and modernisation of national electricity grid. Investment include an increased transmission capacity between the islands and the South-North corridor of the mainland, with particular focus on the Tyrrhenian Link. According to the TYNDP 2020 draft, the proposed link is scheduled to go online by 2025.
