Terna energy has arranged public consultations for the proposed 1 GW Tyrrhenian Link interconnection, which will connect Sicily to Sardinia and Campania. The first public consultation will be held in Termini Imerese (Sicily) on 2nd February 2021, followed by consultations in Battipaglia (Campania) and Eboli (Campania) on 3rd and 4th February 2021.

Terna’s technicians will present all available information of the project in the online events, at 5 p.m. on all three days. Letters and leaflets of the events have been widely distributed in residents of involved municipalities. The comments from all interested parties will then be sent to related ministries to commence the authorisation process.

Terna is planning to invest €3.7 billion on ~950 km HVDC
Tyrrhenian Link. The project includes the construction of two submarine cables: one from Campania to Sicily and the other from Sicily to Sardinia. Over the next few years, 250 companies will be involved in its construction.

The
Tyrrhenian Link is also included in the TYNDP 2020 projects list and is scheduled for commissioning in 2025.
