Foundations General Windfarms

Stiesdal has assembled and installed its TetraSpar Demonstrator floating wind turbine. The turbine, with a total height of 166 m,was installed quayside using a land-based crane.
The company confirmed that preparations for the first fully industrialized floating foundation to enter marine operations have now commenced in the Port of Grenaa, Denmark.

The demonstrator is now ready for towing to the Marin Energy Test Centre, off Stavanger, Norway.

The TetraSpar Demonstrator features of a modular “building block” foundation arrangement. Each foundation is assembled from tubular steel modules, most of which are common to all configurations. Manufacturing takes place in factories using industrialised methods, and their assembly takes place near the site before towing.
