UXO campaign underway for Hollandse Kust Noord

In September 2021, Van Oord kicked off an Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) survey campaign with support from Fugro and NjordIC for the Hollandse Kust Noord offshore wind farm.

The goal of this survey is to identify the locations within the area of investigation where potential UXO are located. The survey area comprises all inter array cable (IAC) routes corridors and all turbine locations.

The survey will be followed by an identification and clearance campaign in the first half of 2022. Once the clearance certificate for the relevant areas has been received, installation of scour protection and foundations, as well as inter array cables can safely start.

The
Hollandse Kust Noord wind farm is expected to be operational by 2023, with an installed capacity of 759 MW, generating at least 3.3 TWh per year. The wind farm will be located 18.5 km off the Dutch coast, near the town of Egmond aan Zee. Is it being developed subsidy-free by the CrossWind consortium, a joint venture between Shell and Eneco. It will consist of 60 Siemens Gamesa SG 11.0-200 DD turbines. Van Oord is balance of plant contractor for the site.
