Wind turbine manufacturer Vestas announced its
V236-15.0 MW prototype nacelle has arrived at Østerild National Test Centre. The nacelle, assembled at the Vestas factory in Lindø, was shipped from Port of Odense to Hanstholm, where it was trucked to the test site.
The V236-15.0 MW prototype installation at Østerild Test Centre is well underway, with all tower sections already installed.

With a swept area exceeding 43,000 m2, Vestas claims its V236-15.0 MW turbine can produce around 80 GWh/year, enough to power around 20,000 European households. Launched in February 2021, it has until now secured preferred supplier agreements for the V236-15.0 MW turbine for a total of 6.8 GW in four different markets.

The company recently revalued it will begin serial production of V236-15.0MW blades from the third quarter of 2023 at its blade factory in Taranto, Italy.

It is developing and manufacturing the V236-15.0 MW prototype and test blades at its factory in Nakskov, Denmark, and will also begin serial production of V236-15.0 MW blades at the Nakskov facility from second half of 2023.

Vestas will produce V236-15.0 MW nacelles at a new assembly factory in Szczecin, Poland, and at the existing assembly factory at Lindø Port of Odense in Denmark.
