Vissim secures marine management contract for Japanese wind farms

Vissim AS has been awarded a marine communication and management system contract for Akita and Noshiro, Japan’s first commercial scale offshore wind projects. The two projects are being delivered by a consortium led by Marubeni Corporation, and will begin offshore construction in early 2021.

The two independent wind farms, 50nM apart but operated from a centralised control and communication infrastructure, have a combined capacity of 140MW. They will play an important role in delivering sustainable energy to 130,000 homes in the area.

"We are delighted to have been entrusted with turnkey delivery including licencing, radar, AIS, radio communication systems and, of course, integrated marine management software” said Nicholas Dent, Managing Director of Vissim’s Global Wind business.
