Developers of Windpark Fryslân have issued an update on construction. Installation of the project's 89 Siemens Gamesa SWT-DD-130 turbines will begin at the start of March.

It is anticipated to take about 1 to 2 days to install one turbine. Working day and night, it currently anticipates the installation of turbines to be completed before the summer. All preparations are almost ready. The foundation piles are in place and almost all cables have been laid.

The three tower sections are to be sailed to the IJsselmeer. There, they will be placed on top of a foundation pile. The tower parts weigh an average of 108 tons each. The nacelle and rotor are being been pre-assembled before installation and will be lifted on top of the turbine towers.

The 382.7 MW
Windpark Fryslân is being built in the IJsselmeer near Breezanddijk and will be the largest inland water wind farm worldwide. When full operations are achieved this year, the wind farm will generate enough green electricity to power approximately 500,000 households.
