Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries (ZPMC) has completed the manufacture of the first of 20 monopiles for CGN's Huizhou project in Guangdong, China. The first monopile is 107 metres long with a 9.6 metre diameter and weighs 2068 tons, making it the largest monopile in China.

The remaining scope includes even larger monopiles, with lengths up to 114 metres and weights up to 2200 tons. The longest monopiles in Europe at 80-90 metres are installed at
Veja Mate, Triton Knoll and Borssele 3&4.

CGN Huizhou is a 400 MW project consisting of 64 turbines, in waters up to 43 m depth. Supply chain issues regarding capability and availability of heavy lift vessels caused delays, with the first ZPMC monopile due for installation in March. The project is aiming for full commissioning mid-2022.
