ØrstedØrsted, the developer constructing the Hornsea Projects, is holding an information event in Grimsby.

Everyone is welcome, and members of the project teams will be there to answer questions regarding turbines, the consenting process and the projects themselves.

There will also be the opportunity to experience standing at the top of a wind turbine, through virtual reality headsets as well as other interactive demonstrations.

Natasha Nanuck, Senior Stakeholder Advisor at Ørsted, said: “These projects are phenomenal, they are the biggest offshore wind farms ever to be constructed and they are happening right here in the UK, which leads the world in offshore wind energy.

“We want people to have the opportunity to learn about these leading projects, meet the team and be proud of what is happening in their local area. If they have questions we’ll be happy to answer them, and I’m sure most will be fascinated by the sheer scale and technology used in the projects, and the community benefits these projects will bring to the region.”

Ørsted has already invested £8 billion in the UK and is set to invest a further £4bn by 2020. The company has been active in Grimsby for eight years and following the recent inauguration of
Race Bank, has three operational wind farms off the Yorkshire Coast.

The exhibition will take place on Wednesday 11 July, from 11:00 – 18:30, at The Assembly Room in Grimsby Town Hall, and there is no requirement to book in advance.

Race Bank, which officially opened last month, became the 10th UK offshore wind farm that Ørsted either owns and partly owns, and together these projects provide over 3GW of green energy – enough to power 2.7 million UK homes.

Ørsted has worked closely with a number of UK suppliers on the
Race Bank project. These include J Murphy, working on the onshore substation and onshore export cable installation, as well as cable manufacturers JDR and installation specialists DeepOcean, both based in Teesside.
