According to financial reporters in Vietnam, HBRE, owner of the 500 MW HBRE Vung Tau offshore wind farm, has signed a technical cooperation agreement with French utility EDF.

Under the terms of the agreement, EDF will research, survey, and evaluate all technical aspects of this proposed wind farm in the Xuyen Moc District, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province. This is HBRE’s only offshore wind project, but EDF is experienced in wind farm development. The two companies intend to work as partners.

With a total investment of $1 billion, the project is located ~35 km from the coast of Binh Chau commune, and was authorized for survey activities last year (2019). The Ministry of Industry and Trade added the plant to the National Development Plan earlier this year, along with several onshore wind farms HBRE plans to develop, ranging from 30 to 200 MW in capacity.
