Global Tech II Offshore Wind Farm

25 Feb 2022: The 980 MW N-7.2 tender was launched on 25th February by the Federal Network Agency. The bidding window will close in 1st September. The maximum value for bids is 6.4 ct/kWh. Based on previous auctions it is likely zero subsidy may be successful. If multiple matched bids are submitted the winner will be determined by lottery. Overall Vattenfall is likely to succeed in acquiring the N-7.2 as it holds a statutory entry right through its previous project Global Tech II. The BSH published the Wind at Sea Ordinance for N-7.2 in January, as well as N-3.5 and N-3.6, both due to be tendered next year. The ordinance confirms the sites’ suitability for tendering and sets out specific requirements for these areas. The costs of the preliminary investigations will be passed on to the successful bidder after the contract has been awarded. The developer will still need to seek planning approval from the BSH to build. Commissioning is envisaged for 2027 with connection via NOR-7-2 transmission system. A guarantee is also required at €200/KW from the developer to cover incompletion or delays. According to the Area Development Plan (FEP 2020) Areas N-7.2 (930 MW) will be tendered in 2022 for commissioning in 2027.
