Sicilia A Floating Wind Farm

04 May 2022: Acciona Energia Global Italia srl, requested the maritime state-owned concession for the duration of thirty years for the laying of a marine duct that will land at the Molo Levante of the Rifugio di Gela port (CL), and which will connect the off-shore wind farm (consisting of 67 wind turbines with floating foundations anchored to the seabed) installed in the stretch of water off the coast southern Sicily, about 37 km east from the island of Linosa and the delivery point for connection to the national electricity transmission grid located in the Municipality of Chiaramonte Gulfi. The concession includes a floating offshore electrical substation HVDC (OTM-B) for 66/500 KV transformation and conversion and AC / DC conversion, two pairs of land transport cables in HVDC AAT which, starting from the aforementioned junction point inside the Port of Gela, will cross the existing road network underground, the territories of the Municipalities of Gela, Acate, Vittoria, Comiso and Chiaramonte Gulfi, to reach the connection point to the NTG, covering a total road distance of 50 km. For the preparation of the construction site of the wind farm, a logistic area of ​​about 14.9 ha was identified to be located in the area of ​​the Port of Augusta (SR) in the locality of Punta Cugno, with a suitable intended use, such as provided for by the Port Regulatory Plan.
