Round 4 Leasing - Northern Wales and Irish Sea - Bidding Area 4 Offshore Wind Farm

08 Feb 2021: Crown Estate has awarded just under 8 GW to six Round 4 projects. Successful bidders have committed an initial investment of £879m in option fee deposits. The projects will now progress to undertake a Plan-Level Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA). The HRA process is expected to conclude in Spring 2022. Subject to the outcome, developers would then be granted an Agreement for Lease by The Crown Estate and be able to progress projects through the planning process. The projects and bidders that will progress to the next stage of Offshore Wind Leasing Round 4 are: 1. RWE Renewables was awarded a 1.5 GW project within Bidding Area 1 (Dogger Bank) Off the Yorkshire Coast, North East of Scarborough and will pay an option fee deposit of £114,304,500. 2. RWE Renewables was awarded a second 1.5 GW project Bidding Area 1 (Dogger Bank) Off the Yorkshire Coast, North East of Scarborough and will pay an option fee deposit of £133,350,000. 3. Green Investment Group-Total was awarded a 1.5 GW project within Bidding Area 2 (Southern North Sea) Off the Lincolnshire Coast, East of the Humber Estuary and will pay an option fee deposit of £124,573,500. 4. Consortium of EnBW and BP was awarded a 1.5 GW project within Bidding Area 4 (North Wales and the Irish Sea region) Off the Northern Welsh Coast, North East of Anglesey and will pay an option fee deposit of £231,000,000. 5. Offshore Wind Limited (JV between Cobra Instalaciones y Servicios, S.A. and Flotation Energy plc) was awarded a 480 MW project within Bidding Area 4 (North Wales and the Irish Sea region) Off the Lancashire Coast, West of Blackpool and South West of Morecambe Bay and will pay an option fee deposit of £44,751,840. 6. Consortium of EnBW and BP was awarded a second 1.5 GW project within Bidding Area 4 (North Wales and the Irish Sea region) Off the coast of Barrow-In-Furness, West of Morecambe Bay and will pay an option fee deposit of £231,000,000.
