Mariners navigating the waters off the North Wales coast are advised of upcoming maintenance operations within the North Hoyle and Rhyl Flats offshore wind farms slated for May 2024. The MPI Resolution, a jack-up vessel, will be conducting these operations, with details outlined in notices to mariners available for download.

The maintenance activities will involve heavy lifting operations at specific turbines within the wind farms. For North Hoyle, attention will be focused on turbine NH21 located at coordinates 53° 25.300'N 003° 28.550'W, while for Rhyl Flats, turbine RF11 at 53° 23.058'N 003° 19.8911'W will undergo similar operations.

Scheduled to commence on the 7 May 2024, the maintenance is expected to span approximately 14 days in North Hoyle and two days in Rhyl Flats, contingent upon favourable weather and sea conditions.

The MPI Resolution, measuring 130m in length by 38m in width, will be easily identifiable with its blue hull and white superstructure. Mariners are urged to exercise caution as the vessel will be restricted in its ability to manoeuvrer while undertaking operations. Signals in accordance with the UK Standard Marking Schedule for Offshore Installations will be displayed.

A 500-metre exclusion zone will be enforced around the vessel at all times, and prior permission must be obtained before approaching within this zone. The vessel will maintain constant monitoring of VHF Channel 16.
