Minister Donohoe unveils updated project Ireland 2040 progress tracker

Today, Minister Paschal Donohoe, overseeing Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery, and Reform, revealed the latest advancements in Ireland's ambitious Project Ireland 2040 initiative. The unveiling included an updated Investment Projects and Programmes Tracker alongside enhancements to the MyProjectIreland interactive map.

Project Ireland 2040, a visionary plan stretching to 2040, is set to revolutionise Ireland's infrastructure landscape. With a committed €165 billion allocated under the National Development Plan 2021–2030, the initiative marks a significant investment in the country's future.

Minister Donohoe emphasized the milestone achieved, stating, "The updated Tracker and Map showcased today illustrate the significant progress in delivering Project Ireland 2040. We are witnessing tangible outcomes across various sectors, from education to healthcare, indicative of our commitment to enhancing public services."

The newly updated Tracker, featuring user-friendly dashboards, provides a comprehensive overview of over 340 projects and 140 programmes exceeding €20 million in estimated costs. Minister Donohoe highlighted its importance, stating, "This Tracker serves as a testament to the successes of the National Development Plan, ensuring transparency and accountability in project delivery."

Underlining the government's dedication to infrastructure development, Minister Donohoe announced additional funding measures, including the allocation of €2.25 billion from windfall corporate tax receipts and the establishment of a €14 billion reserve through the Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund Bill 2024.

The MyProjectIreland interactive map, launched in May 2019, offers citizens insight into local projects under the NDP. With nearly 1,370 projects now featured, including schools, healthcare facilities, and transport links, the platform provides updated information accessible to all.

Highlighted among completed 2023 projects are critical infrastructure enhancements such as regional transport links, health facilities, cultural amenities, and educational institutions.

As Minister Donohoe concluded, "Our commitment to realizing the NDP's goals remains steadfast, ensuring continued progress and prosperity for all our citizens."
