In a momentous event for renewable energy enthusiasts, Vietnam's Vung Tau yard sees off the first of two Hai Long giants, the HL2 substation, on its final voyage to the Taiwan Strait. This departure marks a pivotal step in revolutionising Taiwan's offshore wind capabilities, with the HL2 and its twin, the HL3, poised to elevate the nation's clean energy sector as part of its largest offshore wind initiative.

The departure ceremony was a testament to the collaborative efforts of Semco Maritime's on-site team and their partner, PTSC Mechanical & Construction Co., Ltd, who have diligently worked to prepare the formidable HL2 substation for its journey. Together, they've laid the groundwork for what promises to be a game-changer in Taiwanese offshore wind infrastructure.

Situated approximately 50 kilometres offshore, the Hai Long 2 and Hai Long 3 substations are anticipated to collectively generate an impressive 1,022 MW of power. This substantial capacity underscores the significant role these substations will play in Taiwan's renewable energy landscape, contributing substantially to its clean energy goals.

With the sail-away of the HL2, eyes are now firmly fixed on the horizon, eagerly anticipating the transformative impact these giants will have on Taiwan's energy future.
