In a significant milestone for renewable energy endeavors, the first transition piece load-out for Dominion Energy's Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) project has been successfully completed. Departing from CS WIND Offshore in Aalborg on April 24 at 23:35, the MV Sun Rise embarked on its journey with six transition pieces destined for the US.

This achievement marks a pivotal moment for all involved parties, signalling the culmination of months of meticulous planning and execution. Torben Knud Christensen, Vice President of TP & Secondary Steel at CS WIND Offshore, expressed pride in the collective effort, stating, "Everyone at the quayside did a really good job, which we all can be proud of."

The significance of this milestone extends beyond mere logistics; it serves as tangible evidence of the project's progress since its inception in September 2022. With the successful load-out, confidence in the team's ability to meet client specifications and expectations has been reinforced.

Currently navigating the North Sea, the MV Sun Rise's next destination is Hampton Roads on the east coast of the USA. The voyage, spanning approximately 4000 to 6100 nautical miles depending on the route, is expected to take between 16 to 24 days, given the vessel's current speed of 10.4 knots. Upon completion of this leg, the vessel is slated to return to CS WIND Offshore in approximately 40-45 days to pick up an additional nine transition pieces.

CS WIND Offshore remains committed to supplying a total of 176 transition pieces for the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project, situated some 40 kilometers off the Virginia U.S. East Coast. This endeavour stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts driving the advancement of sustainable energy solutions on a global scale.
