All Gode Wind foundations installed

The last foundation for Gode Wind 1 and 2 has been installed. The installation of 97 foundations was carried out over 5 months and has been completed ahead of schedule.

Trine Borum Bojsen, CEO of DONG Energy in Germany and responsible for the offshore wind industry, says: "It is a great success that we have completed this project step earlier than planned. We are pleased to be able to say that we have the foundations, installed within the noise limits, which are determined by the Federal Office for Shipping and Hydrography. "

The company used as soundproofing measures a soundproof pipe and a large bubble curtain. The foundations have a diameter of 7.5 meters and wind turbines of the 6 megawatt class wear. The offshore wind farms Gode Wind 1 and 2 are for the wind farm Borkum Riffgrund 1 episode projects DONG Energy in Germany. The wind farms Gode Wind 1 and 2 together have a total capacity of 582 megawatts, enough to supply 600,000 German households with environmentally friendly energy.

Last week DONG signed an agreement to divest 50 per cent of Gode Wind 1, to Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP). The total sales price amounts to approximately €780 million (DKK 5.8 billion) which will be paid in the period 2015 to 2016.

Gode Wind 1 and 2 is expected to reach a total capacity 582MW. Offshore construction works for the project began in May this year. The project will consist of 97 SWT-6.0-154 turbines from Siemens, generating enough renewable energy to supply 600,000 German households. Both Gode Wind 1 and Gode Wind 2 are expected to be fully commissioned in 2016.
