The Nantes Administrative Court of Appeal has dismissed appeals from three environmental groups that the environmental impact study for the Parc du Banc de Guérande offshore wind farm was inadequate with regards to environmental damage.

The proposed wind farm is to be located off the seaside town of Saint Nazaire, France, some 12km off the coast. Prosimar, GRSB and Aspen claimed that project should be moved  a further 5 to 10km further from out of Guérande bench. The groups were concerned with the visual impact of the wind turbines from the coast and claimed that shellfish and marine mammals could be detrimentally effected by offshore works.

The project is under development by Eolien Maritime France which is co-owned by EDF Energies Nouvelles and Enbridge. It is in the advanced stage of development with significant technical and environmental studies already performed and front-end engineering and design work completed. Construction contracts have also been tendered and bids received.

If constructed, the project will consist of up to 80 GE Haliade 150-6MW turbines providing an overall capacity of up to 480MW.
