The Esvagt Njord, a purpose built Service Operations Vessel (SOV) which will be used on the Dudgeon offshore wind farm, north of Cromer, in UK waters, has arrived in Great Yarmouth at the Dudgeon Operations and Maintenance (O&M) base. The vessel has arrived ahead of its christening event on the 9th September 2016.

The 84m vessel was constructed at Nauta Shipyard in Gdańsk, Poland, and was launched in January earlier this year. It has accommodation for 40 technicians which can be transferred directly to the turbine using an uptime 19.5 transfer system.

Under contract, it will service Statoil's Dudgeon project until 2021 unless an extension option is exercised, and will operate out of the recently constructed O&M base in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

The Dudgeon array will cover a  55 km²  area of sea with its 67 Siemens SWT-6.0-154 offshore wind turbines. The project saw it's Final Investment Decision (FID) in July 2014 with onshore work kicking off in March the following year. The project is expected to be generating power in Q1 2017 with full commissioning expected no later than December 2017.
