Friday at 15.00 hours the 240-hour test phase of the first of 43 wind turbines at offshore wind park Eneco Luchterduinen was successfully completed. ]

This means that the wind park is now generating green energy for the Dutch grid. The installation of the wind turbines is progressing well. At present, Van Oord’s offshore installation vessel Aeolus sets up the 31st wind turbine.

Every turbine consists of five sections: a tower with a diameter of 4.5 m, the gondola weighing 165 tonnes and three rotor blades with a 112 m diameter. The vessel can carry all sections and components for eight complete turbines in one go. The Aeolus is currently working on the fourth load.

The electricity comes ashore near Noordwijk via a 25 km cable buried in the sea bed and continues underground for a further eight km to the Tennet high-tension power station in Sassenheim. Depending on the weather, the wind park can be fully operational in August 2015.

Together with the Mitsubishi Corporation, energy company Eneco is developing wind park Eneco Luchterduinen 23 km off the coast of Noordwijk and Zandvoort. The 43 wind turbines will generate green energy for almost 150,000 households.
