Gulliver completes first lift

Scaldis Salvage & Marine Contractors' (Scaldis SMC) latest vessel has passed its first test. The heavy lift crane vessel executed the lift of a 500t barge.

The next test will be executed with a weight of 1000T followed by a lift of 2200T.

The vessel was constructed in Hong Qiang shipyard near Shanghai. The contract for the construction and delivery of the ship was signed on 29th January 2015 and a keel laying ceremony took place on Saturday 27th February 2016. It was launched on 5th September 2016.

The design was drawn up in-house in cooperation with Vuyk Engineering Rotterdam, part of Royal IHC.

Gulliver has been ordered to further expand Scaldis SMC’s offerings , including the installation of offshore wind farms and decommissioning activities for the oil and gas industry.

The vessel can provide accommodation for up-to 78 people and features two Huisman cranes, each with a lifting capacity of 2,000 tons, which can execute a tandem lift with a capacity up to 4000t. The ship also has extra carrying capacity of 3,000 tons and the cranes maximum load to be hoisted in significant wave heights of up to 1.5m.

The four azimuth thrusters and the DP 2 system will help the vessel maintain its position during installation work.
