Mainstream looks for Neart sale?

Rumours have speculated that the renewable transition company Mainstream Renewable Power is selling its stake in the 448MW wind farm Neart Na Gaoithe based off the coast of Scotland.

The 448MW Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm has received both onshore and offshore consents and supplier contracts and grid connections are in place. In February 2015, the project secured a Contract for Difference from National Grid. It is expected to be generating electricity and fully commissioned by 2020. This project is unique in so far it will be the first time a UK offshore wind farm of this scale will be built using project finance alone.

When we contacted mainstream they played down the rumours and assured us that "when we complete any significant milestones for the project I will keep you posted."

If a deal is to take place, it is expected to be finalised by the end of the year.
