Quanta Consultancy Services, one of the UK’s leading providers of skills to the renewable energy sector, has been selected by DONG to supply skilled people to drive the growth of the UK’s offshore wind farms.

DONG Energy, one of Europe’s leading energy groups, has chosen Quanta Consultancy  Services as one of four companies to help fulfil a 5-year skills-acquisition programme. Over the agreement period, DONG has anticipated the need for around 500 people – most of whom will be placed in roles around the UK.

‘After a thorough tender process we are happy to award four companies with this framework agreement. We are sure Quanta Consultancy Service, along with the additional 3 other companies, will help DONG Energy to have the most skilled people working on the DONG Energy wind farms projects and also support DONG Energy’s strategy for reducing the cost of electricity from offshore wind farms.’ said  Lars Svendsen, DONG Energy Team Lead.

There are  24 offshore wind farms in the UK at present, with over 20 projects currently running to create more. The UK is considered to be one of the best locations in the world for wind power – already our combined offshore and onshore wind farms power the equivalent of around 6,500,000 homes.

Quanta Consultancy ServicesDONG Energy, headquartered in Denmark, has more than 30 years’ experience in wind power – over 20 of which is in offshore wind farms. The company operates 7 UK offshore wind farms with a further four in development and one nearing the end of construction. They are the largest offshore wind provider in the UK.

Stephen Trigg, CEO of Quanta Consultancy Services, said that the agreement is not only great news for the energy sector, but for the UK economy overall. “This is a significant agreement,” says Trigg, “opening up a large number of roles for skilled renewable energy professionals. It’s not just a great business win, it’s also an energy initiative we can be really proud of. The UK is the world’s sixth-largest producer of wind power – not only creating power, but also reducing our CO2 emissions by almost 12,000,000 tonnes. That’s fantastic all round.”

Quanta had already been working with DONG in Denmark and Germany, under separate supply agreements.

Finding around 100 skilled renewable energy people each year isn’t an easy task, but Trigg feels that Quanta is more than up to the task. “We are real specialists in renewable energy recruitment,” says Trigg. “It’s around a third of our business. We are very good at finding the right people – and then looking after them. It’s really great to be growing our partnership with DONG.”
