4C is now TGS
We are excited to announce a significant milestone in 4C Offshore's journey. Our integration into the TGS family marks the beginning of a new era in offshore wind market intelligence.
TenneT is principally concerned with data on the condition of the soil and the mapping of possible obstacles. TenneT also need information about the impact on the environment, to keep it as small as possible. For example what existing flora and fauna along the route could be affected and how could this could this be mitigated. The survey is conducted by a consortium of engineering consultancy Grontmij, DEEP Hydrography & Geophysics and Marine Sampling Holland (MSH). Together they provide the desk research combined with research on the ground, at sea and on land. The marine survey is conducted with four boats equipped with instruments, such as radar, sonar and soil sampling equipment. The Borssele wind farm zone can be broken down into four separate wind farms; Borssele site 1, Borssele site 2,Borssele site 3 and Borssele site 4 .With the construction of all four sites, the Borssele wind farm zone is expected to reach a total capacity of 1400 MW. This could supply 1.5 million households, which is enough for all households in Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
Investigations of the site were announced by TenneT last month. As the manager of the national grid, TenneT is preparing the development of an offshore grid to connect the sites within the Borssele wind farm zone to the onshore grid. Export cables will bring the wind generated energy ashore for integration into the Dutch grid.
