Westermeer Wind wind farm delivers first power to the grid

It was announced today that Westermeer Wind had produced first power to the grid last weekend. In the coming months all 48 turbines will be installed and connected to the grid, with the commissioning set for spring 2016.

In June VolkerWessels Boskalis Marine Solutions (VBMS) completed the installation of 44 km of cabling. The turbines at the project are connected by 42 array cables with 6 export cables transporting the power back to the grid.

All of the foundations were installed by Van Oord/Mammoth in late May 2015. Currently Siemens are installing the turbines with 17 completed.
