EnBW & FWOL sign five year deal for Windcat 34

From 1 July 2015, Windcat 34 will work on EnBW Baltic 2 in the German Baltic Sea. The vessel will work from the port of Rostock. A five-year contract was signed by FRS Windcat Offshore Logistics (FWOL) and EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG at the EWEA Offshore conference in Copenhagen on 12 March.  

The environmentally friendly and safe CTV is - together with its sister ship "Windcat 35" - the first catamaran fitted with a catalyst and is characterized by a reduction in NOX values of 90%. The average fuel consumption of 185 litres at 25 knots / hr is abnormally low. Developed by Windcat Workboats fender system ensures safe transfer to the turbines.

FWOL, owner and operator of Windcat 34 which guarantees a good service and the reliable use of the CTV. By replacing motors and storage of large components with long delivery times FWOL reduces the service life of the Windcat 34 to a minimum. With a back-up system with well-trained staff FWOL ensures a 24-hour service. Both the crew (2 people per shift and up to 3 crews in rotation), as well as the mechanics are based in Rostock. In addition, the vessel has a heated foredeck to mitigate ice build up during winter months.

EnBW Baltic 2 will be built 32km North of the island of Rügen. Currently, the construction of the plants running at full speed: 44 out of 80 systems are already installed. The offshore wind farm with a total capacity of 288 megawatts annually can produce 1,200 gigawatt hours of electricity for computationally around 340,000 households and reduce 900,000 tonnes of CO2.
