Offshore wind at Sassnitz exhibition

The third offshore summit has taken place at the premises of Sail Sassnitz. Some of the widely recognised companies in the offshore wind energy sector were present which allowed members of the public to express and discuss their fears and opinions of the industry and current and future projects.

The exhibition was part of the three-day event which ran from 14 to 16 August 2015.

"The exhibition is the ideal platform for citizens to all their questions to the experts
to provide the companies involved. Interest is high and increases the dialogue
noticeably acceptance for future projects," says Harm Sievers, CEO
the Port of Sassnitz GmbH.

Nine companies and organisations in total presented in the exhibition tent, which was set up centrally on the premises of Sail Sassnitz. The exhibitors expressed their projects details with the use of models, videos and pictures.

Andreas Wagner, Managing Director of the Foundation of offshore wind energy, takes a
positive conclusion: "The 'Sail Sassnitz' was again this year an important meeting place for the
Offshore wind energy industry. At the 3rd Summit offshore became clear that the
Offshore wind energy in the Baltic Sea into a significant economic factor for the country
and specially designed the area around Sassnitz.”

The ferry port Sassnitz juastified the need for expansion and adjustments of the port infrastructure. EnBW discussed the experience of using the port in the construction of EnBW Baltic 2.

Iberdrola and E.ON discussed their ongoing projects, Wikinger and Arkona Becken Südost.
Both are to be constructed from Sassnitz with work on Wikinger commencing in 2016 and Arkona Becken Südost in 2017.
