VolkerWessels H1 interim figures

VolkerWessels has released its interim figures for 2015. Despite ongoing challenging market conditions in a number of sectors in the Netherlands the operational profit increased to € 97 million. The company was also able to achieve a net debt reduction of € 90 million.

CFO Jan van Rooijen said: “All VolkerWessels sectors have shown a profit for the first six months. The underlying results demonstrate even sharper increases, especially in Building and Property Development and in the UK. We have shown that our strong focus on operating results and risk management has enabled us to improve our financial performance.”

Volkerwessels has recently been awarded various contracts in the offshore wind sector. Last month VBMS, a joint venture between VolkerWessels and Boskalis, signed a contract with E.ON for the installation of export cables at Rampion offshore wind farm. The company have also been awarded a contract by Veja Mate Offshore Project GmbH for the design, manufacturing, transportation, installation and testing of 67 foundations for the Veja Mate Offshore wind farm. Furthermore VolkerWessels has been awarded a contract for the construction of a blade factory in Hull for Siemens.
