ProCon Wind Energy started the electrical construction of two transition pieces for the ProCon offshore wind project together with EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH.

The Coastal Virginia offshore wind project is owned by Dominion Energy and to be constructed by Danish offshore wind giant Ørsted. The 12 MW project is to be located in a federal lease area about 27 miles off the coast of Virginia Beach. It will feature two Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SWT-6.0-154 turbines mounted on monopile foundations 8 metres in diameter.

Project Manager Erik M. Pedersen, who is leading the project, commented: “So far, we have completed the fitting of the internal E-modules and we are now looking forward to completing the rest of the TPs, which is expected to happen in the end of January.”

CEO Claus Søgaard Poulsen commented: “We are delighted to have entered into yet another agreement with EEW Special Pipe Constructions GmbH as it has opened the door to the US offshore wind market for ProCon. We will ensure quality electrical solutions to the Coastal Virginia Offshore Project as well as other US projects in the future.”
