BadaEnergy, a joint venture by Corio Generation, TotalEnergies, and SK ecoplant, has chosen HHI as the preferred bidder for the EPC of its Gray Whale 3 floating offshore wind farm in South Korea. HHI and Doris Engineering were earlier selected for FEED services. HHI is collaborating with BadaEnergy and Vestas to optimize the design and execution plan for the wind farm.

The Ulsan floating offshore wind projects aim to be one of the world’s largest, with construction starting in 2025 and commercial operation in 2028. The selection of HHI allows BadaEnergy to localize its offshore wind projects. HHI's expertise in offshore plant construction positions them for global market expansion. BadaEnergy has also moved to a larger office in Ulsan for efficient communication.

BadaEnergy sees the projects as crucial for achieving global net-zero targets.  Co-Representative Director Woojin Choi highlights the opportunity for Korea’s supply chain to enter the global floating offshore wind market. The projects align with Ulsan City's net-zero targets.

Gray Whale 3’s Project Director, Guillaume Le Maréchal, anticipates economic revival through the wind project, building on the successful partnership between TotalEnergies and HHI. HHI’s Head of Sales Operations, Seung-yong Park, expresses commitment to project success.

Vestas, the preferred turbine supplier, aims to leverage its technology and experience for optimal offshore wind deployment. Srdan Cenic, Country Manager of Vestas Korea, emphasizes delivering competitiveness and strengthening the business case for the project.

BadaEnergy and HHI plan to enhance cooperation with the local community, supporting industry development through initiatives like fund-raising events.
