30 days added to select Massachusetts proposal winner

Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities has extended the date for “Selection of Projects for Negotiation” to 23^rd of May 2018.

This has been moved from the 23^rd of April 2018, after the Distribution Companies (National Grid, Unitil and Eversource Energy), submitted a request to the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), stating that they needed an extra 30 days to select the winning proposal or proposals for a long-term offshore wind generation contract.

The Distribution Companies state the reason for the postponement is due to an unexpected amount of applicants, some of which had several scenarios for the Companies to consider. They say that they needed more time to perform detailed analysis.

The date for submission of contracts for DPU approval, 31^st of July 2018, is expected to remain the same, therefore the period for negotiation and execution of contracts would be between 23^rd of May, and the 2^nd of July.
