Energinet Seeks Client Representatives for Viking Link

Energinet is seeking client representatives for the proposed Viking link interconnector. The tender concerns consultants working on board the cable laying vessels as client representatives for the full duration of the laying campaigns.

The tendered contract will consist 11 client representatives including Project Manager/Coordinator. During the laying campaign two client representatives shall be on board the cable laying vessels. Hence, the client representatives shall be working two and two in shifts, so that one pair will take over for another upon crew change.

National Grid Viking Link (NGVL) and Energinet have collaborated to establish the proposed Viking Link, a 1400 MW high voltage direct current (DC) electricity link between the UK and Denmark. The project includes the construction and installation of a converter station in each country, underground cables, and approximately 630 km submarine cable, crossing through the Exclusive Economic Zones (EEZs) of Denmark, the Netherlands, Germany and Great Britain in the North Sea.

The submarine cable route would run from Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire, UK to Revsing in Jutland, Denmark.

Viking link is expected to commence subsea cable installation in the second quarter of 2021 and have the last cable installed in the third quarter of 2023, consisting of seven individual laying campaigns.
Last date for the receipt of tender will be 26 May 2020. The estimated value of the tender is €1.5 million.
