ESB completes surveys for Irish wind farm

ESB has completed geophysical and hydrographic surveys as part of the development of its Clogherhead Offshore Wind Project off the coast of Ireland.

The data collected will help progress the project design. It was completed in collaboration with Alpha Marine, Ultrabeam Hydrographic and RPS.

ESB and Parkwind are collaborating to investigate the feasibility of developing the Clogherhead Offshore Wind Farm, approximately 10km off the County Louth coast. The project is set to It is poised to be the second project co-developed by this partnership, following on from the nearby Oriel Wind Farm Project which is expected to commence construction in in 2023.

The Oriel project, located in the Irish Sea off the coast of Dundalk, has a capacity of up to 330MW and is planned to begin commercial operations in the early-2020s. Once operational, the project is expected to generate enough capacity to cover the needs of approximately 280,000 households.
