Last pile nearshore wind Westermeer Wind installed version 2

Van Oord and Mammoet have installed the last pile on the 144MW Westermeerwind offshore wind farm, the 48 piles took 40 days to install. The work was planned that a pile a day was to be installed, on four of the days two piles were installed in the space of 12 hours.

Project Director Westermeerwind Peter de Weijs: "We are very satisfied with the installation of the piles. Construction of the wind farm went according to the schedule."

Westermeerwind will now begin the installation of the array cables, the installation will start at the near shore foundation. All 44 kilometers of array cabling is due to be complete in June.

Mid July, the tower, nacelles and blades are due to be installed, this will take up the majority of the summer. First power is expected to happen in August with full commissioning in February 2016.
