Jack-up Buzzard to return to offshore wind

UK-based Jackup GB Limited’s latest jack-up acquisition, Buzzard, is to re-enter the offshore renewables operations and maintenance market in early March. Formerly owned by DEME Group’s subsidiary GeoSea of Belgium, the 43m x 30m jack-up Buzzard was a regular site visitor helping to build many early projects such as Thornton Bank and Alpha Ventus with work including foundation and turbine installation.
Buzzard is currently undergoing a major refit in Antwerp consisting of full blast and coating throughout, upgraded hydraulic systems, upgraded deck equipment, and while in drydock will have four fully retractable spud cans installed. Once completed, Buzzard will re-enter service alongside its former stablemate JU Commander and Admiral 1, all of which are owned and operated by Jackup GB.
