LM Wind blade arrives in Blyth

LM Wind PowerOne of the world’s longest offshore wind turbine blades has arrived at the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult’s testing facilities in Blyth, Northumberland.

The Demowind-funded project aims to reduce the cost of offshore wind by designing, validating and deploying the world’s largest offshore wind turbine blade.

DemoWind aims to support the development and demonstration of technologies which can reduce the cost of offshore wind energy. It targets capital intensive projects which would be difficult for a single country to support and aims to align research from the six partner countries Belgium, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway, Spain and the UK.
