Next Geosolutions has secured a contract award from Prysmian Group for the Marine Survey works in support of the Route Engineering and Design of the
Viking Link Interconnector.
Next Geosolutions' scope of work includes full geophysical, geotechnical and UXO tasks covering the onshore, nearshore and offshore phases. In-field operations have already commenced, with the mobilisation of the in-house DP2 MPSV Ievoli Amber and the Roxanne Z Multi-Cat in the port of Great Yarmouth.

Perry Balls, Next Geosolutions UKCS General Manager, commented: “This award confirms NG unrivalled experience in the Interconnection industry and marks a further step in our consolidated growth in the Northern European Market”.

Once completed,
Viking Link will be a 760 km long DC interconnector line between Revsing in southern Jutland, Denmark and Bicker Fen in Lincolnshire, UK. The project is expected to help boost the energy security of both countries during periods of high demand. The total value of the electrical connection amounts to approximately €2 billion. It includes around 625km of subsea cable, and is expected to be fully commissioned in 2023.
