Norwegian project to map supply chains and develop delivery models

Norsk Industri will lead a project to map supply chains and develop delivery models for offshore wind in Norway. Over the next year the project, which is funded by the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, will work to map and develop models that can help stimulate delivery capacity in offshore wind in Norway.

In June, the project was awarded kr 10 million in support from the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy as part of the government's package of measures.

The project's mandate is to develop delivery models and create increased feasibility in order to be able to expand offshore wind and increase competitiveness in the international market and in Norway. Among the project's most important tasks will be that of mapping the overall picture for specific delivery models and more complete supply chains in the industry.

"I have noticed that there is an enormous willingness in the industry to invest in offshore wind. The work that this project will now start on will be a strategically important investment. We are rigging Norway to create new, green jobs in a rapidly growing market. This is a project that will stimulate technology and knowledge that has been developed in oil and gas and in the maritime sector to be used within offshore wind," says Minister of Petroleum and Energy Tina Bru.

Runar Rugtvedt, who is responsibly for monitoring suppliers and technology in oil & gas and related industries at Norsk Industri, is chairman of the board.

"Our most important task will be to map the breadth of our supplier industry. We will map which muscles we have, and which muscles we need to grow big on offshore wind both outside and at home," says chairman of the board Runar Rugtvedt.
