Ofgem grant electricity generation license

Ofgem has granted the Sofia offshore wind farm ltd. an electricity generation license.

Sofia offshore wind farm ltd., is a Swindon-based company owned by innogy, the company behind the development of the Sofia offshore wind farm.

The wind farm is currently under development 165km off the North East of England. Once fully operational the project will be innogy's largest one to date, with a generation capacity of 1.2GW.

There is expected to be between 120-200 turbines spinning at the wind farm, resting on currently undecided foundations.
