UK-based EEW OSB has been commissioned to supply 35 transition pieces for Ørsted's
Borssele 1&2  wind farm project off the coast of the Netherlands. The contract represents EEW OSB’s first export order since its inception.

Matthew Wright, Ørsted UK Managing Director, said: "This multi-million pound order secures 180 jobs in Teesside and high utilisation in the facility for the first half of 2019. By building long-term relationships with highly productive suppliers such as EEW OSB, MHI Vestas Blades UK, and Ordtek, UK companies from across the value chain can not only benefit from UK projects, they can really take advantage of the growing global export opportunity."

EEW OSB  was set up by Bladt Industries A/S (Bladt) and EEW SPC in November 2014 after the two companies acquired the assets of the Tag Energy Solutions fabrication yard in Teesside. In November 2017, Bladt announced that it had transferred all its shares to EEW SPC who became sole owner.

EEW OSB's first project was fabricating 56 transition pieces for another of Ørsted's offshore wind farms, Hornsea Project One located 120km off the Yorkshire coast. The project is poised to be the world’s largest offshore wind farm when commissioned in 2020.

Ørsted won the rights to Borssele 1&2  back in July 2016 with an average bid strike price, excluding transmission costs, of 72.70 EUR/ MWh during the first 15 years of the project's operation.

The project will have a capacity of 752MW and is located 23km off the coast of Zeeland (Westkappele). It is expected to provide power around 500,000 households once completed.

GeoSea (part of DEME Group) has been awarded a contract for transportation and installation of 94 foundations and turbines at the wind farms. It is responsible for the full scope of the monopile foundation installation as well as scour protection supply and installation. Water depths range from 14 to 36m.

A2SEA (a subsidiary of GeoSea) will provide installation vessel capacity to transport and install 94 Siemens Games SG 8.0-167 direct drive turbines with a 167m rotor.

Van Oord has been awarded the contract to transport, install and bury 94 inter array cables with a total length of 167km. The company will deploy its dedicated cable-laying vessel
Nexus and trencher Dig-It to install and bury the cables to a depth of 2m.
