4C OffshoreBelgium-based offshore wind consortium Otary has issued a tender for the Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Installation (EPCI) of high voltage offshore substations to be used on two of its offshore wind farms.

The scope includes the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of offshore high voltage substatiosn and its associated foundation. The tender is open until 28th November 2017.

The projects concerned are the Mermaid and Seastar offshore wind farms which are located 50km and 40km of the coast respectively. The projects are to have a capacity of approximately 266MW and 246MW respectively and to be located near another of the consortium's wind farms, the 309MW Rentel project which is currently under construction.

The Belgian federal government recently reached an agreement in principle with the developers of the two offshore wind farms for subsidy support. The agreement not only paved the way for the development of Mermaid and Seastar, but also Northwester 2 which are to be built between 2018 and 2020.
