ProCon finishes Borssele 1&2

ProCon Wind Energy has completed the electrical construction of 35 transition pieces for the Dutch project Borssele 1&2 at EEW Offshore Structures (Britain) Ltd.

Since June 2019, ProCon has been providing electrical pre-assembly, installation and connection of 35 E-modules and platforms as well as installation of different systems of the transition pieces – including external lighting, navigation, communication and ventilation. ProCon also carried out commissioning and testing of the entire electrical construction of each unit. These tasks have been finished and now only an operations and maintenance manual remains before total completion.

Ørsted won rights to the Borssele 1&2 site in July 2016, with an average bid strike price, excluding transmission costs, of EUR 72.70/MWh for the first 15 years of the project's operation. The project will consist of 94 Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy SG 8.0-167 DD turbines, with a combined capacity of 752 MW. It is located 23 km off the coast of Zeeland (Westkappele), and is expected to provide power to around 500,000 households once completed. The project should be fully commissioned by the end of the year.

With work nearing completion ProCon Wind Energy stated it has continued cooperation with EEW working on the foundations for the Hornsea 2 project. The two companies are collaborating on the construction of 30 transition pieces for the project. EEW Offshore Structures (Britain) Ltd. announced last Friday that the first TP of the Hornsea 2 project had been up-ended.
