Rem Offshore announced it has secured a 2-year charter contract with options on RWE’s
Sofia
offshore wind farm for its newbuild CSOV Rem Power.
The vessel will support the construction phase of Sofia offshore wind farm, providing welfare and transfer services to personnel for asset maintenance and also operating as the construction and marine coordination hub, with startup Q2 2024.
It is currently at Vard Søviknes where the final outfitting and commissioning of its Walk-to-work tower will be done prior delivery.
“The vessel has been developed in close cooperation with the designer and meets all client requirements, with several inventive features which meet future requirements for zero emission and optimal workflow. It has been a great pleasure to work in close cooperation with RWE team,"
said Ronny Pål Kvalsvik, Chief Commercial Officer in Rem.
“We are proud to support RWE in its quest for optimal solutions for the offshore wind industry. We have dedicated large resources for growth in renewables, and it is with great pleasure we can start seeing the results of this hard work.”,
said Fredrik Remøy, CEO of Rem Offshore.
The 1.4 GW Sofia offshore wind farm will be located 195 km from the UK coast on Dogger Bank, in the shallow area of the central North Sea. It will consist of 100 Siemens Gamesa SG 14-222 DD turbines. The 100% RWE-owned project represents a total investment of approximately £3 billion and is scheduled for completion by Q4 2026. It is expected to provide enough power to supply the equivalent of around 1.2 million homes.
