SATH to be tested at IFREMER wave basin

Saitec Offshore TechnologiesSaitec Offshore Technologies has been awarded three weeks in IFREMER's wave basin facilities, by the Marinet2 program, to further develop its SATH technology.

SATH is a prestressed-concrete floating platform consisting of two cylindrical and horizontal hulls with conical ends linked to each other through bar-frame structures.

The hulls are shell structures with circular or ovoidal cross section. They are internally stiffened and divided into compartments by cross bulkheads. The tower support is fixed to the floating elements through another auxiliary structure.

The SATH project aims to reduce the Levelised Cost of Energy (LCOE), and Saitec claim its floating platform does so through potential cost reductions in CAPEX and OPEX. Saitec state that because SATH has a reduced installation cost and that SATH doesn't require the hiring of vessels for maintenance of big parts.
