IJmuiden Ver Alpha Converter

IJmuiden Ver Alpha will be approximately 75km off the coast. The connection will used HVDC technology to limit the loss of power. Power from the wind turbines is transformed from 66 kiloV AC (kV) to 525 kV DC. From the converter station, underground cables run to a 380 kV high-voltage station. Possible grid connection locations are existing high-voltage stations in Geertruidenberg (via the Haringvliet) and Borssele (via the Westerschelde or via the Veerse Meer). The construction phase is expected to start in 2024
