Hitachi Ltd acquired Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd wind division in April 2012. July 2013, Titan Wind receive a sample order for the Tower of the 5MW turbine. Hitachi expected to install a single machine at the port of Kashima, Japan by the end of September 2014. This date was then delayed with the turbine being installed in March 2015.
