EFGL award cable gig to JDR and SDI

Réseau Transport Electricité (RTE) and Les Eoliennes Flottantes du Golfe du Lion S.A.S (EFGL) have awarded JDR and Société de Dragage International SA (DEME Offshore subsidiary) a contract for the supply and installation of 66kV cables for connecting the EFGL floating offshore windfarm.

The EFGL wind farm will feature three V164-10.0 MW turbines on floating steel structures and installed approximately 16 km off the coast of the municipalities of Leucate and Barcarès, in the French Mediterranean.

The project is supported by ENGIE, EDP Renewables, Caisse des Dépôts and their partners Eiffage, Principle Power and General Electric. RTE is responsible for the subseea export cable and onshore transmission infrastructure. The connection link will link the wind farm to the existing Salanques substation located in the town of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque.

The 66 kV cable procurement process was led by both RTE and EFGL. The contract value is 25.2 million.

The scope includes the survey, design, engineering and compliance testing, procurement, manufacturing, supply, construction, installation, laying, burial and protection, completion, on-site testing, pre-commissioning, trial operation, spares provision and other services for:

1. underground export cable and optical fiber cable (only supply and mounting), landfall transition joint, submarine export cable (static and dynamic, optical fiber included) subsea accessories and associated equipments and services;
2. inter-array dynamic cables, subsea accessories and associated equipments and services.

The contract also includes an Inspection Maintenance and Repair (IMR) contract for the RTE's onshore and offshore export cable scope.

EFGL are due to make a final investment decision this Spring with commissioning in 2023.
