Tekmar Energy Limited has secured contract awards from Global Marine Group and JDR Cables for the supply of TekLink cable protection systems and cable hang-off assemblies for the Danish Kriegers Flak offshore wind farm.

Tekmar Energy has been commissioned by Global Marine Group to supply 150 patented TekLink Mechanical Latch cable protection systems to protect the subsea array cables as they interact with the monopile foundations from the seabed to surface. Additionally, JDR selected Tekmar Energy to deliver 151 patented sealed hang-off clamps to secure the cables at the top of the foundations.

Russell Edmondson, Managing Director of Tekmar Energy, said: “We are pleased to be working with Global Marine Group and JDR Cables on DKF. All three companies have bases in the North East of England, so this project is a great showcase for the UK supply chain and its leading position in the delivery and installation of subsea array cable systems.”

The Danish
Kriegers Flak wind farm project is located in the Baltic Sea, and will consist of two parts. Kriegers Flak A, the west section, will have a total capacity of 200 MW. The east section, Kriegers Flak B, will have a total capacity of 400 MW. Vattenfall secured rights to the project in November 2016, with a winning bid of EUR 49.9 per MWh. The wind farm is set to feature 72 Siemens Gamesa SG 8.0-167 DD turbines which have a rotor diameter of 167 metres and tip height of 188m.

The project also forms part of the Kriegers Flak Combined Grid Solution for which a 170 kV High Voltage Alternating Current cable system connects two offshore wind farms,
Kriegers Flak and EnBW Baltic 2. The solution connects the national grids of Denmark and Germany and is designed to facilitate the transmission of power between the countries via the interconnection between the two wind farms.
